Job announcement (Project Officer for Human Rights Defender and Project Assistance for Decreasing Statelessness )

MIRO is a local NGO, founded in 2012. MIRO is to defend and promote human right and seek development for ethnic minority groups and Khmer Krom and contribute to their prosperity and social participation. Currently, MIRO focuses its activities on Khmer Krom and ethnic minority groups who have been living in Cambodia for many generations. MIRO currently is looking for two qualified candidates to fill in the position: 1. Project Officer and 2. Project Assistance for full time base in Phnom Penh with regular travels to the provinces

  1. Project Officer for human rights defender: the position involves project cycle management, writing progressive reports, advocacy, investigate/monitoring, and provide legal advice and legal training workshop.

Duties& Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and legal training workshop to target groups;
  • Make advocacy with local, national, and international level;
  • Conduct investigate/monitoring into human rights abuses;
  • Strengthen network member building in each target areas;
  • Plan for mass media advocacy, press release, statement, and bulletin printing;
  • Prepare progressive reports “monthly, quarterly, and annual”; and
  • Performs other duties when required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in law or relevant development field;
  • At least two years’ experience with civil society organizations;
  • Knowledge of project cycle management and facilitation skills;
  • Proven track record as trainer, preferably with minority groups;
  • Good written and oral communications skills in both Khmer and English;
  • Honest, responsible, committed and open-minded;
  • Unprejudiced against Khmer Krom and ethnic minority groups;
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point etc.).
  1. Project Assistance for decreasing statelessness: The project addresses legal identity issues and human rights of ethnic minorities and Khmer Krom.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge project cycle management and facilitation skills including planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation;
  • Provide training workshop in relation to civil registration and the rights of education;
  • Assisting to provide legal assistance and advice;
  • Knowledge the plan and implement effective interventions and advocacy activities;
  • Compile progressive reports.

Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor degree in Law/Social Sciences or a relevant development field;
  • At least two years’ experience with civil society organization;
  • Knowledge of government policy, the national law pertaining to nationality/citizenship and international human rights in relation to minorities;
  • Willingness to work for the rights of Khmer Krom and ethnic minority and to reflect on prejudices;
  • Good written and oral communications skills in both Khmer and English;
  • Honest, responsible, committed and open-minded;
  • Unprejudiced against Khmer Krom and ethnic minority groups;
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point etc.).
